Bell Ringer: An 81.5 kg fireman slides, from rest, down a 4.50 m fire pole. He squeezes the pole with force of 885 N. Between the fireman and the pole, the coefficient of kinetic friction is 0.285, and the coefficient of static friction is 0.45. Does he start to slide? If so, how long does it take him to reach to bottom of the pole?
