Bell Ringer: What is all matter made of?

    • Finish Wire Lab (due 1/7/11)

      • Graphing help:

        • 1. Label axes and include units

        • 2. Decide on a scale for each axis (make sure the largest value in each axis will fit on your graph)

        • 3. Plot points on graph using data table.

    • Atom - the smallest unit of an element that still behaves like that element

        • made of protons, neutrons, and electrons

            • protons and neutrons at the center, make up the nucleus

            • electrons orbit around the nucleus

Periodic Table

    • Atomic number is number of protons

    • Atomic mass is protons + neutrons

    • Same number of electrons as protons

    • Draw the atoms of Hydrogen, Helium, Fluorine, Sodium, and Iron. Color code the protons, neutrons, and electrons and include a key. Due Friday, 1/7/11.
