  • How hard can you pull?

      1. Hold a piece of string between your two hands and pull outward on each end. Hang a weight from the middle of the string. Have someone measure the angle that the string makes with respect to horizontal. Note the mass labeled on the side of the weight. Calculate the force with which you pulled the string (see the sign example in your notes for help).

      2. Is it possible to pull the string so hard that it doesn't sag at all? Why or why not?
