Bell Ringer

    • Mr. Bennett yodles a pitch of 440 Hz. If the sound wave he produces has a wavelength of 0.780 meters, what is the speed of that wave?

    • Wave behavior activities, notes

      • Wavespeed

        • Depends on

          • Type of wave (e.g. light vs. sound)

          • Properties of the wave's medium

            • speed of particles (temperature)

            • Distance between particles (solid vs. liquid vs. gas)

            • Size of particles (Oxygen atoms vs. Helium atoms)

        • Does not depend on frequency or wavelegth, despite the equation v = f (lambda)

      • Interference

        • Two waves CAN occupy the same space at the same time. When they do, they add together.
