Bell Ringer: Why is it important to be aware of the decisions we make about our environment?

    • Turn in climate change assignment.

    • In the computer lab, open this site: http://www.chem4kids.com/files/matter_mixture.html

      • Read through the material, then click "Mixtures II" on the right side of the page, near the bottom of the list

      • Read through this material, then click the button at the bottom that says "take quiz on mixtures"

        • Answer each question on the quiz, and write a sentence on a paper to turn in which summarizes the question and answer (e.g. If the questions was "True or false: The Hawkeyes suck." You would write on your paper "The Hawkeyes suck" because it's true)

      • Open this link: http://www.chem4kids.com/files/matter_solution.html

      • Read through the material on solutions, then click the button at the bottom that says "take quiz on solutions"

        • Answer each question on the quiz, and write a sentence on a paper to turn in which summarizes the question and answer (e.g. If the questions was "True or false: The Hawkeyes suck." You would write on your paper "The Hawkeyes suck" because it's true)

  • Mixtures and Solutions assignment (due tomorrow)

      • Write down all answers to online quiz questions (for both quizzes)

      • Answer the following 2 questions on the same sheet:

        1. Someone gives you a mixture of some type, and asks you whether it's a suspension, colloid, or solution. Describe what you could do with the mixture to figure out which it is.

        2. You are given a mixture of water, iron filings (which is metallic dust), salt, and gravel. Describe how you could get each of these parts of the mixture separated from each other.
