Bell Activity: What is chemistry?

    • Friday's quiz had the answers on the back by mistake

    • Handed back quizes

    • Make sure all of your answers are correct, and for each answer explain why that is the answer. This could take the form of showing calculations to find a numerical answer, citing a relevant law or theory, using an equation to make an argument, or citing the page in the textbook which gives the answer.

  • Quizes are due back by Wednesday

  • Matter is the "stuff" that makes up our world. Anything that has mass and takes up space is matter

    • Includes solids, such as wood or rocks

    • Includes liquids, such as water or hot lava

    • Includes gases, such as air or water vapor

  • Chemistry is the study of matter and its changes

    • Atom - the smallest unit of an element that still behaves like that element

      • made of protons, neutrons, and electrons
