Bell Ringer: What is science?

    • Note cards

      • last name, first name (as you want it pronounced);

      • names and contact info for parents or guardians

      • your textbook number

      • seating needs

    • Discuss syllabus

        • Syllabus can be downloaded from the file cabinet page on this web site, if you lose your copy

    • Class procedures

        • Assignments

            • Will have an assignment almost every day

            • Assignments will be turned in using the black tray system at the back of the room

            • It is the student's responsibility to turn in each assignment on time.

                • Turn each assignment in at beginning of the block

                • Any assignment not turned in at the beginning of the block is late. Late assignments may be turned in within 24 hours for half credit, or for 1 point after 24 hours. No assignment will be accepted after you have taken the test for that unit.

All assignments will be headed correctly (as described by the orange sign in class)

Bell Ringers

    • There will be a bell ringer on the board each day when you come in

    • Bell Ringers should all be done on the same sheet of paper (until it's full, of course)

Web site

    • Address is at the top of the syllabus

    • Has pages for notes, an assignment list, a calendar, recent grades, and files from class that you can download

    • Should be used as a resource for studying, completing assignments, and catching up after missing class

Lab books

    • Instructions for labs are printed in lab books

    • Each student must purchase a lab book for $1 from Mr. Bennett

    • Science is all about making predictions, testing them, forming models, testing the models, and revising the models

    • Creating, testing, and revising models for the mystery tubes
