    • What observations have you made during your lab so far that indicate a pattern -or- what observations have you made so far that have surprised you?

Activities

    • Continue "bouncy grandpa clock" activity

      • Your task is to make a mass-on-a-rubber-band system that behaves like a grandfather clock's pendulum (where T = 2.0000 seconds). We'll be using new sensors to gather and analyze data, so the purpose of this lab is both to understand simple harmonic motion for this system and to learn the new technology.

      • To turn in for your group:

        • 1. Your groups best (closest to 2 seconds) period - written and signed by Mr. Bennett for verification purposes

        • 2. The mass your group used to attain your best period

        • 3. The spring constant of your system used to attain your best period

        • 4. What is the relationship between mass and period for this system? (included data to support your answer)

        • 5. What is the relationship between spring constant and period for this system? (included data to support your answer)

        • 6. T(mass-on-a-spring) = 2 * (pi) * sqrt (m/k) Using your numbers from 2 and 3, calculated the period of the system. How well does this equation work for a mass-on-a-rubber-band system?
