Bell Ringer: What is sound?
Sound Lab
Students should do the sound station lab in groups of 2 or 3
Stations are set up around the room and labeled
Students will be given 3-5 minutes per station, then move to the next station. Students will have some time after they finish the stations to work on the questions that go with the lab.
Notes for the lab:
Students should strike tuning forks only on the soles of their shoes as hitting them on hard surfaces damages the tuning forks
Some stations do not require materials other than their own bodies.
For station 6, they should strike the tuning fork and then press the butt of the handle against their forehead.
For station 7, they need to pull the string on the cup-phone tight to hear one another.
Reading and problems
Once students have finished the lab, they are to begin reading pages 543-551
Have them do page 551: 1-10 to turn in tomorrow
