Bell Ringer: How are mass and weight different?

• • Mass

    • Measures amount of "stuff" or amount of matter in something

    • related to number of atoms and molecules that make up an object

    • measured in g, kg

    • not affected by gravity

  • Weight

    • Amount of force from gravity on an object

    • related to object's mass and amount of gravity acting on it

    • measured in Newtons (N) because it is a force

  • Mass and weight lab - due Thursday
