    • Go over class syllabus

    • Hand out textbooks (may store at school when you don't have homework or studying to do at home)

    • Set up portfolios

    • Categories game / scientific knowledge notes

      • Observation

        • Readily apparent information (easy to see, measure)

        • Most basic type of scientific knowledge

        • Used to construct understanding of bigger ideas

      • Hypothesis

        • Proposed explanation of how or why something happens

        • Based on what we know

        • Test with a hypothesis

      • Theory

        • Well-tested, well-supported hypothesis

        • Generally accepted by scientific community

        • The most sure we ever are in science about WHY something happens the way it does

      • Law

        • Patter of behavior which is ALWAYS followed

        • Describes WHAT happens repeatedly

        • Theories NEVER become laws because laws explain WHAT happens and theories explain WHY something happens
